Projects require a 25% deposit to secure my design and development resources with the full balance being settled before your website goes live. If it helps to split the final 75% into smaller chunks, before the site goes live, let’s have a chat. I run a small business and know that cashflow can be complicated, so let’s make it as easy as possible.
I cannot transfer page content from your old website, however, I often copy and paste helpful passages and sections into your new design. That being said, when creating a new website, I always think it’s best to use the old site as a base and rework everything. Things change over time and we want to ensure your site reflects the current situation.
If you currently run Etsy, Squarespace or Shopify, I’m able to export blogs and products and import them them to your new website. However, migrations are never 100% perfect, and we always recommend setting aside some time for spot checking. Any extra features I’ve created will also need to be populated.
All services include manual migration of up to 6 blogs or products, which I recommend saving for your most complex and fiddly content. Additional time can be spent transferring data for an additional price.
Yes! Anything I can edit, design, add or remove; you can edit, design, add or remove too. This is to ensure your small business has every tool available for growing and adapting to new business challenges.
Of course, I’d love to keep working with you on this growth, but also understand that small businesses need to keep an eye on their budgets and that often means DIYing some or all of their website management.
My website services do not include copywriting as such. I can tweak a few things here and there, but for the majority of the content, you will either need to supply me this, or I can either collate information from your current online presence or start form scratch copywriting for an additional fee. If you require this service, please do get in touch to discuss your needs and what the timeline will look like.
If you want to upgrade form a single page site, to a small business site, that is relatively easy. However, if you think you’ll want to do this at some point, it would be great to plan that from the beginning to make the transition easier.
If you want to switch from a single page or small business site to a bespoke site, we will have to start again as it will be built on another platform.
Once your website is up and running, my costs end. If you need additional work doing or would like website support and management, then I will quote for that individually, usually at my hourly rate.
The ongoing costs of your site depends on the platform we are using.
For Wix that is typically around £6.50/month for the site plus £4/moth if you need a personal email.
More pricing info for Wix can be found here: https://www.wix.com/upgrade/website(https://www.wix.com/upgrade/website)
For Shopify, most customers starting out will be on the £24/ month plan. A free domain is available, to get started if you want it.

For Wordpress it somewhat depends on whether we are using any paid for plugins. Typically I find free plugins or one off payment plugins work very well, but we can discuss the best route, before starting on your project. Otherwise there are no ongoing costs for Wordpress, which is why it’s often the favoured platform.
In addition to the platform you will need to pay for a domain name/ hosting and email. I’d always recommend not buying from the platform we are using and can give specific recommendations for your requirements.
I only build in Wix, WordPress and Shopify. However, for the vast majority of my clients, I find that either Wix or WordPress are the most suitable platforms for their needs.
Wordpress is definitely a little trickier than the all-in-one platforms like Shopify and Wix, but I can provide plenty of training and support to get your started and keep your business growing. Plus, I use a super easy drag-and-drop visual page builder for WordPress called Divi (which is included in the price), so a lot of your day-to-day content management will be very similar to Shopify and Wix.
Wix on the other hand, is perfect for simpler websites and for business who are limited on time and don’t have the background knowledge of building websites.
I have more limited experience with Shopify (in comparison to the others) but it’s a great tool for many small businesses. One of the main reasons I have less experience though, is because WordPress often works out significantly cheaper to run going forward and as such is more often the chosen platform of my clients.
I wouldn’t recommend using the platforms built into other systems like google, go daddy etc. They tend to be clunky and very limited in capability, meaning you’re likely to want to upgrade almost immediately.
The most important things that I need form you, is your brand identity and content! I can make a beautiful design, but without these we will struggle to create the site your business needs. Below are the specific assets we will need to get started.
Branding:
• A logo on a transparent background (including a vector like an SVG or EPS file)
• Your brand colour palette (typically 4-5 colours)
• Your brand fonts for headings, subheadings and body text
Content:
• A selection of at least 16 professional quality images
• Reviews
• Text for the main parts of the website
I am not a graphic designer, however if you do need assistance with your branding, I can either help with simple designs or I can put you in touch with a fabulous friend of mine who really knows her stuff.
When it comes to content, I really need direction from you on what you want where. I am able to gather information from your old site and other online content for a small fee. Alternatively I can do some copywriting for you.
Drop me an email or describe what you do have and where you might need help in my enquiry form, and I will take a look.
My small business websites are built in Wix, which is a simple website development system. Many sites don’t require huge, complex development systems and so by using Wix it significantly reduces design and development time while giving us a strong foundation – it’s like starting the project on second base.
Starting two steps ahead and saving heaps of website design and development time, means I can offer the small business websites at a much lower price for a professional quality product.
Now, that might mean that your website footer is kinda the same as one of my other clients, but the content and design is what really matters, these areas will attract and convert your customers and are unique to your business.
Sometimes though, your business may be a little more complex.
My bespoke websites are built in WordPress where we have more functionality and flexibility in the design. This can be better suited for indie brands with a more exacting or specific aesthetic in mind, complex or large content catalogues with sophisticated filtering, technology integrations, or an unusual website goal.
If you’re unsure which type of website is best for you, just get in touch and we can discuss your needs.
